Word Up

The management and staff here at RPA (i.e., myself) want to take the opportunity to embrace the vast expanse of the World Wide Web, and give a little something back to you, gentle readers. Hence, the introduction of Word Up, a (semi)regular feature designed to enlighten, engage and educate you...or at least, give you something else to read when there's nothing on the tube.

Each Word Up posting will have a new word with a corresponding definition, and I'll try to use it in a sentence too. The word could be one that some of you may already know. Or, others may have read it somewhere and thought, "Ummm....huh??" And others still will have no idea what I'm talking about even now.

It is for this last group in particular, and in honour of this lovely first day of April, that I present to you my first entry for Word Up:

****
fatuous
Inanely foolish and unintelligent; stupid

Many people were under the fatuous belief that the island of Upper Caisse would make a great vacation spot.
****
