He did it. He finally did it.
Boy Mercer bought Rock Band.
I was very quick in accepting the invite to come over today for a jam session. After the screaming incident I endured first thing this morning, I felt the need to get away from the cranky wildlife out my window and enjoy some more polite company of the human variety.
After we divvied up the roles (Boy Mercer as lead singer, Girl Mercer on bass guitar ["All the hot chicks play bass," she explained] and myself on drums) and created our band members (Joey Love, Dougg and Betsy, respectively), Bam Dastards were officially on tour!
Boy, do I ever love playing the drums. I mean, I love playing the drums. They are freaking AWESOME. And yes, I know I only play on the Easy level, but it's still quite a challenge. And since I've never had any musical training in my life in any instrument, I think it's pretty impressive that I can just hold on to the sticks, so I'm taking whatever victory I can get.
I started out slow, since it had been a while since I played. My last couple of RB experiences were at a local big electronics store that shall remain nameless (not to protect the innocent, but to protect me, so I can go back there someday and not be flagged as "Rock Band Mooch Girl"), and I totally killed in the store. I drummed the hell out of Enter Sandman, let me tell you.
R can definitely attest to my incredible drumming abilities, since he patiently stood there and watched as I played seven songs in a row during one visit to the store. It was even better when the sales guy came over and the two of them were discussing my technique and drumming style. It was at that point I was convinced the security cameras now had me on file and it was probably time to go.
But, as per usual, I digress. Back to the Bam Dastards tour today.
I was doing pretty well for the most part, having only played the game three times before today. The only song that sucker-punched me was a Queens of the Stone Age number....not a pretty sight, kids. I lost us a lot of fans because of that song. However, after I bought myself a fancy new outfit to wear on the next leg of our tour, I felt a lot better and it really showed in my drumming.
We ended our tour (for today) on a high note, and I actually had a 160-something note streak! That is the best I have ever done on any RB or Guitar Hero game ever!
I felt kinda bad that my "I'll just stop over for a minute" visit to the Mercers' ended hours later with me almost becoming a permanent fixture on their couch. I would have had to fight their cat for prime real estate, and I know that I would never win that fight, so I felt I had better leave them be before Betsy-the-Tommy-Lee-wannabe moved in and took over their television for good.
I think that maybe the next time (if RB Mooch Girl gets invited back), it will be time to tackle the microphone. However, I'm not ready to say goodbye forever to the Mercers, so I don't know if I should sing yet...that may cement their decision to boot me to the curb. Plus, I don't think I can afford to buy them a new TV when I shatter the glass on theirs.
Maybe I'll just stick to the drums. That's probably safer for now.
Last I heard, someone mentioned they were working through their need to be a rock star...what happened??
ReplyDelete(Imagine you hear Stewie saying this :P)
Are the Mercer's becomming your local supplier ;) They gotcha a little hooked again hmm?? Working your way through the levels are ya?? Thinkin' you might want to be part of the glam rock era, get the big record deal, maybe tour for a little while, get a big contract?
Yeah yeah you work on that :P
No, seriously, good for you! :P
ReplyDeleteYou could have a fixture chez Kehoe, but you dumped us long ago for BB and FS. You are dead to me Beckelbee. Dead.
