As it was in the beginning

It was time to go back to the beginning.

RM and I decided to commence our new project: watching all the episodes of Lost, starting with the pilot. Not an easy task, but we decided we were up to the challenge.

I hadn't watched the first season when it originally aired, and when I caught it in reruns (remember reruns? when networks actually played their real shows again during the summer, instead of clogging the airwaves with "reality" crap?) there were some episodes that didn't quite make it to air, thus leaving me incredibly confused (which, sadly, I still am).

RM didn't watch anything after the first season, so this was going to be an adventure for both of us! But first, we needed to properly prepare.

Friday night:
First stop: snacks. You can't watch several episodes of a TV show without snacks. It's the law, in fact. A federal one, I believe. So we headed to the grocery store to stock up. Apparently, I thought that we were going to watch every single episode of Lost that night, so I went overboard with the snackage options. We came out of the grocery store with at least three bags of goodies, and boy, was I excited! Hadn't had junk food in a while, and was feeling a little sugar-deprived, so I was pretty pumped.

Second stop: coffee. Caffeine is always a good idea when you need to be alert, and you definitely have to be on your toes to watch Lost. So much happens in every episode, it's almost ridiculous. I'm tempted to create a tally sheet so I can keep track of everything. But then I think, Lostpedia does all that for me, so why reinvent the wheel? So we did a quick run through the drive-thru, where we were amazed and kind of in awe of the cashier's incredible phone voice...all I gotta say is, wow.

Third stop: Television. Started up the first episode, and let the goosebumps overwhelm me. It was really very traumatizing to watch that plane crash. It was also very interesting to see all the characters together again, and pick out the ones who will eventually be bumped off (some of whom I was quite happy to see go...you know who you are *cough* Shannon *cough).

We made it through four episodes back-to-back, with no commercials. Now that's the way television should be! :) Four hours of television condensed into just over 2.5 hours...love it! And I made it through a lot of the junk food...so I had a pretty sore stomach by the end of the night. I never learn.

Saturday night:
Only stop: We only made it through one episode that night. Guess the novelty started to wear off quickly. I'm so fickle. But it was an incredibly good episode, and one that I had never seen before but was very pivotal, so it was all good. Also, we started in on the cheesy poofs, so that made it even better...mmm, cheesy poofs.

Sunday:
Yeah, we're good. No Lost today. We're not total losers, you know. Besides, there are four seasons to get through, and seven months in which to do so. I think we'll be just fine.

Can't say the same for my stomach, unless I change my snack options. I'm just a sucker for a good cheesy poof, I guess.
