Everybody's working for the weekend

And this weekend, I was aiming for the Friday night party. The hottest event in town.

The Mercers and I attended the Coast's 15th anniversary party. This is an annual event that is always a rockin' good time. The invite said that the party was slated to start at 6 p.m. Girl Mercer and I pulled into the parking lot beside the place at 5:56 p.m.

Now, you may say that we are geeks and/or losers for showing up to a party so early. Honestly, you may ask, what female in her right mind doesn't want to make a fashionably late entrance? That would be the two of us, because we wanted our free stuff, and a table at which to sit and observe.

See, every year the party offers free snacks (great spread this year, too), one free beer, and a token to spin the prize wheel. No matter what, you're going to win something. This isn't the whole "whatever you spin has to add up to $1 or you get squat" crap.

For the last three years, I have consistently won loot bags, which are sort of the mystery prize, but contain a lot of cool stuff. Last year was the introduction of the words "manpoo" and "guyditioner", which Kehoe acquired in her loot bag. Boy Mercer and I kept the tradition alive this year and both got them in our loot bags.

Girl Mercer won a prize, as she has always done. She picked up a package that was all wrapped up pretty-like in cellophane, containing some cool stuff and some naughty stuff. The Coast is good like that! :)

When Billy came by later, he gave his prize token to Boy Mercer, who spun the wheel and won a prize too! He picked up a cool collection of CDs, including Beautiful Tragedy by In This Moment. The three of us saw them open for Ozzy in January, and we really liked their sound. I particularly enjoy the title track, fyi.

Even though we overindulged in the free snackage, the Mercers and I felt the need to go for wings for the second time in as many days. We kept our Coast party traditions alive by going to the same location we went last year, even though it's a new restaurant.

Bubba Ray's has approximately one bajillion types of wing sauces (give or take three). I went for Mango Chipotle and Chill 'n Lime. They were awesomely good...so good, I can't even be grammatically correct when describing them. I can't remember what kinds Boy Mercer had, but he had the Jamaican Jerk ones the week before and was singing their praises.

All in all, it was a great night. And when I got up the next morning and used my manpoo and guyditioner, I felt a little twinge of nostalgia for the fun from the night before and for the ghosts of Coast parties past.

Even if I did smell like a guy.
