We've all been lost for most of this life

I should know better. I really should.

I know that I shouldn't drink two cups of coffee while watching the season finale of Lost first thing in the morning. My heart is racing, I'm having hot flashes, and I have the jitters. Plus, I'm dehydrated from crying at certain moments during the show, and all I've ingested so far today is said coffee.

*Sigh*.

But you'll be happy to know, gentle readers, that I am very happy right now. And that's not just the caffeine and adrenaline talking. I'm sure it helps, but it's not the only reason.

The season finale was incredible. It was action-packed from beginning to end, and was the most enjoyable 1.5 hours of television I have witnessed in a long time (I DVRd the episode, so I was able to speed through the commercials, hence the missing 30 minutes there). Now, I may let out a few spoilers here in the rest of this posting, so consider yourself warned if you haven't watched it yet.

I love how reasonable, everyday logic escapes us when we watch Lost. For example, a couple of episodes ago, Locke was informed that they had to move the island to protect it. Leno asked me the next day, "Is it weird that the first question I asked was, 'Where would they move the island to?' and not 'How do you move an island?'". I told her that on any other show, that would be weird, but not with Lost.

And so was the case with the season finale: they moved the island. And to watch it disappear from the chopper above was an incredible sight. Total wtf moment right there. And, like Leno, my question is, "Where did they move it?"

In fact, I still have a number of questions about the show, some of which I'm sure Leno, CM and I have debated endlessly, but never came up with any resolutions. And I try to go on some of the accompanying websites to gain some headway, while keeping in mind that a lot of these are fan-based theory sites. Because let's face it, the producers aren't exactly going to tell us what's going on for certain! Why would we keep watching?

But I'm going to pose a few of these questions here, and if any of you have any theories/answers/comments, please feel free to enlighten me!
  • What the hell is up with Claire? What kind of spell is she under, if, in fact, that is the case?

  • Why does Charles Widmore want to find that island?

  • Why does Charles Widmore keep trying to fake that British accent? Who does he think he's kidding?

  • Why did Locke assume the name of Jeremy Bentham? How did he end up in the casket?

  • Why does everyone have to go back to the island? And why does Locke/Bentham have to go back with them?

  • How did the horrible PR people working for Oceanic Airlines actually get their jobs?

  • Why would Jack cover up that handsome face with that awful beard in the flashforwards?

  • Why does Kate think she looks better with makeup? Who would have told her that?

  • Why does Desmond need to disappear with Penny (SO glad she found him, btw), as per Jack's request?

  • Why is Jack's supposedly-dead father roaming the island, speaking on behalf of Jacob?

  • What exactly is Aaron eating to stay alive?
That's more questions than I thought I had...wow. I think I had better stop there for the moment.

This is where I turn it over to you, gentle readers. I'm interested to hear your answers!

Annnnnnnnnnnndd......go.

  2. I was just reading about Bentham today! Do you think that wasn't really Locke in the casket? I thought he DID look a little too made up, almost too dark...I wonder if he was a fake?

  3. I'd like to say I understood this, but we both know I'd be a liar.
I used to watch Lost (including reruns) like it was Norp. I mean it was the best thing on tv, and then the boy gets kidnapped and I freaked. It was to much for me, because I was so into the show it was like they yoinked a member of my own family....

So would someone be willing to watch a few seasons this summer with me if I decide to catch up??

  4. I'm all over that idea. I don't think I can wait until reruns start on the Space channel in the fall...I need to review now!

  6. Ewww...I was trying not to think of that, because I really don't want to see them taking a headless body back to the island
