Word Up

I'm stuck on a phobias kick lately, I guess. I just find the actual words so entertaining, because they are usually huge and contain anywhere from 7 to 40 letters, all to describe something that people are scared of. Why they can't make it simple is beyond me.

For example, if you are afraid of birds, why is it called ornithophobia instead of birdphobia? And wouldn't balloonophobia make more sense than globophobia? I'm not afraid of globes. You see how I could become confused here.

Oh well, not for me to judge the language creators. I'm too busy judging the people who keep screwing up the language.

But you all know someone who deals with the following phobia. Especially if you know me, because I certainly have it. In fact, I have the other two mentioned above as well. We just don't have enough time to get into all my issues though, so here we go:

coulrophobia
The fear of clowns

I feel perfectly justified in having coulrophobia, because clowns are among the top five most evil creatures on the planet.
