Everytime I Hear That Song

Day Two of BT11 is brought to you by the letter "K" (read on to find out why).

In a twist of the method of yesterday's post, I shall share things that I have learned in the lovely Boston area (since technically, we weren't in Boston today; rather, we were in the 'borough).
  1. Americans take their football seriously.
An early-morning shopping venture to Gillette Stadium (home of the New England Patriots), followed by the Kenny Chesney concert in the same venue later that night, was an eye-opening look at a sport that most Canadians could care less about (well, the ones that I know, at least). And it starts early in the US, too. Dude in line behind us at the concert was talking about his kid getting a concussion playing football, but that he'd be ready to go back soon...to his grade 5 team. Scary.
  2. I think I might kinda have a crush on Billy Currington.
When he came on stage as the opening act for Kenny, I could see the colour of his incredible blue eyes from 20 yards away. And his curly hair is kinda awesome too. Interesting quirk: He performs barefoot. Write that down for future use.
  3. I love cover songs.
Seriously, pretty much any one I come across, I like (dance mixes and remixes and crap like that don't count). For example, in my previous posting I mentioned a great cover rendition, and at tonight's Kenny concert, we were treated to yet another amazing performance: The Zac Brown Band performed The Devil Went Down to Georgia. Fan-freaking-TASTIC. Any time a fiddle is added to a song, it just makes me happy (I'm showing my roots here, I know, but y'all feel me, dontcha?). If you haven't already checked out The Zac Brown Band yet, you really need to. Most of them look like Grizzly Adams, and one guy looks like Kevin Smith (Silent Bob, to those of you living under rocks), but their music - and talent -  is incredible.
  4. I have incredibly short arms.
This may seem random, but here are the facts: we had amazing seats for the Kenny concert. And when I say seats, I mean we were so bloody close to the stage that there were no seats and we had to stand for hours on end, leaning against the stage. That's right, touching the stage, where the artists play their music and stuff. Feet hurt like you wouldn't believe, but it made for an experience like no other. The only problem, besides the sore feet, is that every time one of the performers came by to slap hands with people along the sides, my hand was missed. Everyone around me, and some people behind me, had their hands slapped, but not me. My first snub was from Billy (although we're good now, and my crush remains intact), and my second was from Kenny. I know it's not intentional, but it hurts a little inside sometimes.
  5. Country concert dress code: wear as little as possible.
Seriously?? How did your mother ever let you out of the house dressed like that?? Kids these days, and the trampy moms who take them to concerts and wear as little as the kids...it's sad. One that stands out was the blonde Daisy Duke impersonator, complete with a pink plaid blouse tied in a knot well above the waistband of her tiny denim cutoff shorts. Apparently, if I plan on going to another one of these shows, I need to workout so I can wear the standard issue white tank top/tiny black T-shirt and miniature denim skirt...and, of course, the most practical footwear for standing during a seven-hour concert: cowboy boots. May work fine for Kenny while he's performing, but I think I'll pass.
  6. I have the best boyfriend in the world.
I really do. He is incredibly amazing. This entire trip was his idea, as he's a huge Kenny fan, and he really wanted to share that with me, which is awesome. The music was fantastic and the show was amazing, but the company made it the wonderful experience it was.
Getting sleepy now, and tomorrow is another big day. If our feet heal up tonight, we're probably going to hit Boston proper and browse around. Any suggestions of where to visit would be greatly appreciated.

Stay tuned for more exciting BT11 updates!

(P.S. Can you discover why this post was brought to you by the letter "K"?)
